Michael J. Morrissey has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Insurance Society since 2009, and has been a member for more than 18 years. The IIS is an organization of insurance executives, regulators and academics, whose mission is to facilitate the worldwide transfer of insurance research and innovations and to foster the development of

networks across international markets. The IIS, which was

formed in 1964, has over 900 members from more than 90 countries representing key insurance companies, academic regulators and associations around the globe.

Prior to joining the IIS, Mr. Morrissey was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Firemark Investments. Mr. Morrissey was the Chief Investment Officer for the firm and invested in public and private insurance companies around the world. Mr. Morrissey has advised insurance company managements and regulators, and served on a number of insurance company boards. Morrissey currently is a member on the board of directors of Selective Insurance Group, Inc., where he chairs the Finance Committee.

Mr. Morrissey is the global insurance industry representative on the G-20 Private Sector Taskforce of Regulated Professions and Industries. He is also a member of the American Risk & Insurance Association, the

Asia Pacific Risk & Insurance Association, the European Group of Risk & Insurance Economists, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is a past president of the Association of Insurance and Financial Analysts.

Mr. Morrissey holds a B.A. from Boston College, an M.B.A. from

Dartmouth College and has completed the Harvard Business School’s Corporate Finance Management Program. Mr. Morrissey is also a Chartered Financial Analyst, and is profiled in "Who's Who in the World".

Norman R. Sorensen is Chairman of the International Insurance Society. Previously, Mr. Sorensen was Chairman-International and President & CEO of Principal International (NYSE:PFG) from 1998-2012. Prior to Principal, he was a senior executive at American International Group (NYSE:AIG) from 1989-1998, and before joining AIG, he held a number of senior international marketing and general management positions at Citigroup (NYSE:C) from 1984-89, and at American Express Company (NYSE:AMX) from 1972-84.

Mr. Sorensen has extensive experience developing and growing global consumer and institutional markets for financial services products with a focus on Latin America, Europe and Asia. Among his global responsibilities, he led Principal Financial Group's efforts to liaise with the Brazilian, Chilean, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian and Mexican Governments on those countries’ Pension Reform projects at all levels of public and private sector policy.  Mr. Sorensen is the Senior Independent Director of the Board of DE Master Blenders ((Euronext/AEX: DE), and a director of Board of Encore Capital Group (Nasdaq:ECPG). He also serves on the Insurance Advisory Board of Pitney-Bowes Business Insights (NYSE:PBI); he is a member of the Council of Asset and Investment Management of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), and a former Chairman of the U.S. Coalition of Service Industries (CSI).  In the course of his career, Mr. Sorensen has appeared before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee at hearings on the U.S.- China Economic Relationship, before the Senate Finance Committee at hearings on the U.S. free trade agreements with Chile and Singapore, before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Trade at hearings on The Future of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and before the WTO Council in Geneva at hearings on The Future of the Doha Round of Trade Liberalization.

Luciano Portal Santanna is Superintendent of the Superintendence of Private Insurance - SUSEP, Federal Attorney at the Office of the Federal Attorney General, Director for Regulatory Agencies at the National Association of Federal Attorneys (ANPAF). Postgraduate in state law and regulation by Fundação Getúlio Vargas, pursuing a Masters degree in Regulation Law at Candido Mendes University. Professor at the Graduate School of Business Law at Candido Mendes University.

At the Attorney General's Office he served as Chief of Staff and General Coordinator of the Federal Attorney General, General Coordinator of the Specialized Federal Attorneys for the INSS (National Social Security Institute), Coordinator of Consulting Attorneys for the Federal National Petroleum Agency - ANP, Chief Attorney at the National Commission for Nuclear Energy - CNEN and Chief Attorney at the Superintendence of Private Insurance - SUSEP.

Denis Kessler was a 23 year-old student at the Paris business school HEC when he first worked in the insurance industry, as a summer intern at Tokio Marine in Tokyo, in 1975.
He then embarked on a 15-year academic career as a researcher, doctor and university professor at the University of Paris X Nanterre, the University of Nancy II and the renowned Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. His works in the fields of social and economic science included texts on “life cycle theory”, “aging, social security and pensions”, “decision making under uncertainty”, “saving and intergenerational transfers” and “insurance market dynamics”, and were published extensively in leading academic reviews. He holds a PhD in Economic Sciences, and led a research centre at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) until 1990.
Denis has given lectures in many arenas throughout his career, and has taken part in numerous debates concerning both his fields of research and policy making in general. His academic achievements have been recognised by honorary degrees (Doctor Honoris Causa) from the Moscow Academy of Finance and the University of Montréal (HEC).
Very early on in his career, he was closely associated with several global organisations such as the OECD, the World Bank and the Geneva Association (International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics), where in the mid 1980s he became deputy General Secretary and Chairman of the Scientific Committee. He has been a member of the Board of the Geneva Association since 2005. From 1990 to 2002 he was a member of the Presidential Council and a Vice-President of the Comité Européen des Assurances (CEA). In 1990, he became Chairman of the Federation of French insurance Companies (FFSA). He held this position until 1997, and then again from 1998 until 2002.
His career in insurance began at the age of 32, when he was appointed a non-executive Board member of UAP, the leader on the European insurance market at the time. He remained in this position until 1990, when he joined the FFSA. Between 1997 and 1998, he was Senior Executive Vice-President and Member of the Executive Committee of the AXA Group. He then became Senior Executive Président of Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), a position he held until 2002.
Since November 2002, Denis Kessler has been CEO and Chairman of SCOR, the 5th largest reinsurer in the world. As CEO he has turned the company around and put it back on the path to growth, making several successful acquisitions, most notably Revios in 2006, Converium in 2007, and Transamerica Re in 2011. In 2010 and again in 2011, SCOR was elected Best Global Reinsurance Company by key market commentators. In 2011, Denis Kessler was elected Best Reinsurance Company CEO of the year by both Reactions and The Intelligent Insurer. SCOR is a corporate member of the IIS.
Besides his position as CEO of SCOR , Denis Kessler serves as an independent Board Member in leading global companies such as Invesco and BNP-Paribas.

Patrick de Larragoiti Lucas is Chairman of the Board of SulAmérica, one of the largest Brazilian insurance groups, with activities also in Pension and Asset Management. Founded in 1895, SulAmérica currently has over 5,000 employees and annual revenues in excess of 8 billion Reais. He joined SulAmérica as an Executive Officer in 1987, and in 1998 was appointed President and CEO of the Group.

Prior to joining SulAmérica, Patrick worked at Chase Manhattan Bank in São Paulo and New York, Compagnie Suisse de Reassurances Schweizer Ruck in Zurich and Swiss Re Reinsurance Company in London.  He has been a member of the Board of The Geneva Association since 1998 and is also the First Vice President of the Board of the CNSEG (the Brazilian association of insurance, private pension and capitalization companies).

Mike McGavick joined the XL Group in 2008 as Chief Executive Officer.  As CEO, Mike has focused XL on maintaining and building its premier position as a global insurance and reinsurance provider of property, casualty and specialty products.

In 2010 Mike was recognized as the Bermuda Insurance Institute’s (Re)insurance Person of the Year, Review Magazine’s Industry Personality of the Year, and Reactions Magazine Insurance CEO of the Year.  The company also achieved the highest performing stock listed on the S&P500 for 2009.

Mike was chairman, President  & CEO of the Seattle-based Safeco Corporation, from 2001 to 2005.  Prior to joining Safeco, Mike spent six years with the Chicago-based CNA Financial Corporation where he held various senior executive positions before becoming President and Chief Operating Officer of the company’s largest commercial insurance operating unit. 

Mike’s insurance industry experience also includes two years as Director of the American Insurance Association’s Superfund Improvement Project in Washington D.C. where he became the Association’s lead strategist in working to transform US Superfund environmental laws. 

Mike has been involved in a number of political and public affairs organizations, including serving as a Chief of Staff in the United States Senate, and running for the US Senate in the State of Washington.  Mike’s deep interest in public policy has also led him to take an active role in organizations working to find innovative solutions to lift people out of poverty and strengthen civic institutions.  Mike chairs the Board of the Rural Development Institute, a nonprofit organization of experts and attorneys helping the rural poor obtain legal rights to land.  With offices and affiliates around the world, RDI works with governments, researchers, foreign aid agencies, and other partners to enact reforms of local land uses laws and policies to make meaningful progress in the developing world.

Among his many industry and community service involvements, Mike is a former Vice Chairman of the American insurance Association, and was the founding Chairman of the Seattle-based Business Partnership for Early Learning (BPEL).  Mike was the 2010 recipient of the Bermuda Insurance Institute’s “(Re)Insurance Person of the Year”.  He was named the Puget Sound Business Journal’s Executive of the Year in 2003 for leading the turnaround of Safeco, and was the 2005 winner of the prestigious Charles E. Odegaard award for his efforts in promoting diversity at the University of Washington. 

He is also a founding member of the Washington D.C.-based old boys’ rugby club, the Wild Geese RFC. 

Mr. Wu Zongmin was born in 1965. He is currently Chairman and CEO of China Pacific Property Insurance Co., Ltd, and Chairman of China Pacific Insurance Co., (H.K.) Limited. Since joining China Pacific, he has taken a variety of posts, including Chief Representative of London Representative Office, Director and CEO of CPIC Hong Kong, and Senior Vice President of CPIC Property. He is now a member of ACII and has received the title of Senior Economist. He holds a M.A. degree of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), M.B.A. degree from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) .

Dr. Kahane, who is Head of the Alfred Akirov Institute for Business and Environment at the University of Tel Aviv, Israel, is an influential figure in the insurance industry and in the actuarial profession, as a seminal thinker and a prominent insurance educator and researcher. Dr. Kahane is also an active entrepreneur in both the academic and business worlds. His activities have had a substantial impact on the insurance industry in the broadest sense, especially in Israel but also in Portugal and in the former Soviet Union countries. An internationally renowned pioneer of new concepts and ideas, he has served as advisor to companies on important insurance issues for more than four decades. He is a celebrated author and speaker who challenged the industry to implement innovations, and has been ranked among the most prolific researchers in insurance.

Dirk Kempthorne was appointed president and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) in November 2010 after an impressive career in public service.

As president and CEO of ACLI, Governor Kempthorne is the chief representative and spokesman for the life insurance industry before Congress, the administration and in all state capitols. ACLI’s more than 300 legal reserve life insurer and fraternal benefit society member companies account for over 90 percent of the assets and premiums of the U.S life insurance and annuity industry.

Governor Kempthorne advocates to policy-makers at all levels of government about the important role life insurers play in providing financial and retirement security to American families. His efforts help shape national and state policies that make it easier for families to manage risk and ensure they have long-term savings and guaranteed income-for-life options in retirement.

Governor Kempthorne was born in 1951 in San Diego, California, but has called Idaho his home state for most of his life. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Governor Kempthorne began his commitment to public service in 1985, when he was elected Mayor of the City of Boise, Idaho. After serving seven years as Mayor, he was elected to the United States Senate in 1993. With Idaho issues close to his heart, he left the Senate after one term and was elected Governor of Idaho in 1998, and was easily re-elected for a second term in 2002. While serving as Governor, Kempthorne achieved the largest Indian Water Rights settlement in Idaho’s history, ending 150 years of dispute.

In 2006, Governor Kempthorne returned to Washington, D.C. to serve President George W. Bush. He was nominated and confirmed as the 49th Secretary of the Interior, charged with resurrecting the Department’s tradition of responsible stewardship of public lands. In this role, Governor Kempthorne managed 20 percent of U.S. lands with an annual budget of $18 billion.

Governor Kempthorne has proven himself to be a leader unbound by political affiliation. While in the U.S. Senate, he authored two strong bipartisan bills on state mandates and safe drinking water that were signed into law by President Bill Clinton and remain enacted today. Governor Kempthorne also understands the importance of international partners to U.S. prosperity, and has led numerous trade missions and delegations to key trading nations such as Japan, China, Korea, and Costa Rica.

In addition to his accomplishments as a public servant, Governor Kempthorne has served as Chairman of the National Governors Association and the Western Governors Association, and was President of the Council of State Governments.

Governor Kempthorne and his wife, Patricia, also a University of Idaho graduate, have two adult children, Heather and Jeff.

Mr. Maciag has developed a broad knowledge and understanding of the role technology plays in the global insurance marketplace today.  He joined ACORD in 1977 and served in various roles including Vice President of Automation, Corporate Secretary & Treasurer and Executive Vice President prior to being appointed President in 1994.

Mr. Maciag led the expansion of ACORD to serve the Life & Annuity segment of our business followed by the merger with WISe in London and Brussels that increased global participation for large commercial lines and reinsurance, including the London Market.  He was a monthly guest technology columnist for ten years and is the author of two books “The Real-Time World� published in 2009 and “The Business Information Revolution� published in 2005. 

He is the principal advocate for industry standards and continues to author columns, host videos and moderate industry events.  He also publishes a personal blog.  Prior to joining ACORD, he held Operations and Systems positions with Chubb & Son and the National Council on Compensation Insurance.

ACORD is the nonprofit industry organization created in 1970 to support the development of standards to support the exchange of insurance information among all trading partners.

Since 1998, Dr. Frank Ellenbuerger  is a partner with KPMG. After completing his Ph.D. in economics, he joined KPMG Cologne in 1988 where he built up the Center of Competence Insurance. He also qualified as both a CPA and tax accountant.

Frank provided auditing and advisory services to large and mid-cap financial service and insurance clients. One of his main areas of expertise lies in the Solvency II topic and the resulting implications for the insurance industry.

Frank is a member of the board of KPMG Germany. He is also the Global Sector Lead for insurance as well as Sector Head Insurance of KPMG Europe LLP.

Ralph Mucerino is Senior Vice President of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and Chief Distribution Officer of AIG Property Casualty Commercial Insurance. He is

responsible for producer and client management as well as AIG’s Property Casualty multinational network. Most recently, Ralph served as Chief Operating Officer of Chartis International and Chairman of Global Marine and Energy. Ralph is a 34-year veteran of the company and has held a number of senior management positions in the U.S. and international business units of AIG.

In 1979, Mr. Mucerino joined AIG from The Travelers, where he had started his professional career in the property and casualty industry. In 1994, he was given responsibility for re-engineering AIG’s foreign non-life insurance operations worldwide. Following this position, Mr. Mucerino moved to France to manage the general insurance businesses for AIG’s European operations. In 1996, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York and assumed responsibility for the Africa-Middle East region. Following this posting, he was assigned to Japan as President of the Far East Region, AIG’s largest general insurance operations outside of the United States.

In 2002, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York to be President of AIG Global Energy, the market leader in providing risk management and insurance related products and services to

the energy industry. A few years later, he would become President of the newly created AIG Global Marine and Energy division.

In 2007, Mr. Mucerino, together with his duties as President Global Marine and Energy, was given the challenge of establishing two new business practices, Financial Institutions

Practice (Non-U.S.) and Alternative Energy and Eco-Practice (Global). In November of 2008, Mr. Mucerino was appointed Chief Operating Officer for the company’s

international businesses. In 2009, he was elected as Senior Vice President of Chartis Inc.and elevated to Chairman of Global Marine and Energy, Chartis.

Mr. Mucerino has a degree in Business Administration from St. John’s University.

Marco Antonio Rossi is the CEO of  Grupo Bradesco de Seguros e Previdência, Executive Vice President of Banco Bradesco, President of FenaPrevi - Federação Nacional de Previdência Privada e Vida, Vice-President of CNSeg - Confederação Nacional das Empresas de Seguros Gerais, Previdência Privada e Vida, Saúde Suplementar e Capitalização, Consultant of ACRJ - Associação Comercial do Rio de Janeiro, Member of the Geneva Association - International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics. He holds a MBA degree in Advanced Studies in Strategy and Geopolitics FAAP - Faculdade Armando Alvares Penteado. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Client Management and degree in Marketing, both from Universidade Paulista

     Sergey Sarkisov graduated in economics from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).  After graduating  with Ph.D. in economics from Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation  worked for 4 years in Latin America (in Cuba, Panama and Nicaragua) as the Director of Representative office of  INGOSSTRAKH - Chief Agency of Foreign Insurance of the USSR, which was founded in 1947. In 1972  INGOSSTRAKH transformed to the stock company (100% government shares) and in 1992 it went private.

     In 1991 he founded one of the most successfully growing company on the Russian market, its rating is  "Ð’Ð’+/ruAA+" by Standart & Poor's (2011).

     Mr Sarkisov has more then 30 years experience in the insurance industry, he is frequent speaker on various insurance issues including: general insurance, regulatory issues across CIS, reserving, risk management, catastrophe exposure management  and catastrophic linked  securities,  enterprise  risk management,  M&A, solvency and asset management.

     From 1991 till present time Mr Sarkisov is Chairman of the Board of Directors of  IJSC ‘RESO-Garantia”  and RESO Group, Russia. Insurance company “‘RESO-Garantia”” is one of the major insurance companies in Russia (Top-5), has more then 20 000 agents  through out the country and more then 9 millions of  clients.

     RESO Group is diversified holding carrying out activities in insurance, pension system, medical sphere, leasing, development.

     RESO Holding expanded its insurance influence in CIS countries, its companies are working in Kazakhstan, Belorussia, Armenia, Ukraine.

     Sergey Sarkisov  is  involved deeply in insurance regulation development in Russia  as Vice - President of  major insurance  association – All-Russian Insurance Association, as a Member of Federal Financial Markets Service and Russian Parliament’ Insurance Expert Council, as a Member of Board of Russian Association of Motor Insurers.

     Sergey recently initiated the creation of the UNION of RUSSIAN INSURERS and became the President  of EURO ASIAN INSURANCE UNION, which supposed to coordinate activities of the insurance unions in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine.

     His experience goes beyond Russian profession associations; Mr Sarkisov is also a Member of General Council of Business Russia public association.

     Mr Sarkisov is the author of books, devoted to life insurance, insurance law, management, has written more then 50 monographs, articles about  insurance regulation and risk management.

     He enjoys time with the family (has 5 children), travelling and keeping fit.

Barry Stowe is Chief Executive of Prudential Corporation Asia, responsible for Prudential plc’s network of life insurance, fund management and consumer finance operations spanning 13 diverse markets across Asia.

In Asia, Prudential is the leading Europe-based life insurer in terms of market coverage and number of market-leading positions, with more than 360,000 employees and agents across the region and over 11 million customers.

Prudential is also one of Asia’s largest asset managers with operations in ten markets and £52 billion in assets under management in Asia (as at 31 December 2010). It manages funds on behalf of a wide range of retail and institutional investors, including funds attributable to life and pension products sold by Prudential.

Prior to joining Prudential in October 2006, Barry was President of Accident & Health Worldwide for AIG Life Companies, based in Hong Kong and overseeing more than 100 operations across six continents. Under his leadership, AIG Life Companies was the global market leader in Accident & Health insurance, maintained a vigorous CAGR of 24% and contributed approximately 20% of AIG’s global earnings. Before becoming President, Accident & Health Worldwide, Barry spent three years as the Southeast Asia Regional Head for AIG Accident & Health.

Barry has been a member of the Group Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of Prudential plc since November 2006. He is a member of World Economic Forum’s Committee on Emerging Market Investment and was a member of the Board of Directors of LIMRA and LOMA until October 2011.

Achim Steiner

UNEP Executive Director and

Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations

Acting on the nomination of Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the UN General Assembly in 2006 unanimously elected Achim Steiner as the Executive Director of UNEP for a four-year term. He became the fifth Executive Director in UNEP's history. At its 83rd plenary meeting in 2010, the UN General Assembly, on the proposal of the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, re-elected Mr. Achim Steiner as Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme for another four-year term.

The Secretary-General also appointed Mr. Steiner as Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), where he served from March 2009 to May 2011. UNON provides the administrative, conference, security and logistics services to the UN family in Kenya, hosts offices and projects of more than 60 UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes, and over 5,000 staff.

Before joining UNEP, Mr. Steiner served as Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from 2001 to 2006, and prior to that as Secretary General of the World Commission on Dams. His professional career has included assignments with governmental, non-governmental and international organizations in different parts of the world including India, Pakistan, Germany, Zimbabwe, USA, Vietnam, South Africa, Switzerland and Kenya. He worked both at grassroots level as well as at the highest levels of international policy-making to address the interface between environmental sustainability, social equity and economic development.

Mr. Steiner, a German and Brazilian national, was born in Brazil in 1961. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Oxford as well as an MA from the University of London with specialization in development economics, regional planning, and international development and environment policy. He also studied at the German Development Institute in Berlin as well as the Harvard Business School.

Mr. Steiner also chairs two UN system wide entities:

• HLCP - High-level Committee on Programmes of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB); and
• EMG - United Nations Environment Management Group.

Dr. rer. pol. Ludger Arnoldussen was born in Duisburg in 1962.

Following a banking traineeship with Commerzbank AG in Duisburg, he studied business economics at the University of Cologne, obtaining a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.).

In 1988, Dr. Arnoldussen began his career with Bayerische Rückversicherung AG, Munich, as a graduate trainee. Four years later, he was responsible for the founding and development of the Company’s Dublin office in Ireland. On returning to Munich in 1996, he became Head of the Non-proportional Division.

In 1997, Dr. Arnoldussen was appointed deputy member of the Board of Management of Bayerische Rückversicherung AG and was responsible for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Facultative Property/Casualty. He was made a member of the Board of Management of Bayerische Rückversicherung AG in 2000. In the following year, he assumed the position of project manager for the integration of Bayerische Rückversicherung into Swiss Re’s Europe Division and became a member of the Europe Division Executive Team. In 2002, Dr. Arnoldussen was, in addition, appointed to the Board of Management of Swiss Re Germany Holding AG and, in 2005, joined the Europe Division’s Executive Team Committee as Business Unit Head responsible for Northern/Central/Eastern Europe. Later that year, he was made Chairman of the Board of Management of Swiss Re Germany AG.

Dr. Ludger Arnoldussen was appointed to the Board of Management of Munich Re with effect from 1 October 2006, with responsibility for Germany, Asia Pacific and Africa Division as well as Central Division: Services. He is married and has four children.

The UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance Initiative

Butch Bacani is the Programme Leader of the UN’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), a global framework and initiative to address environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities. The PSI were developed by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), a partnership between UNEP—the UN’s environmental arm—and financial institutions worldwide spanning the banking, insurance and investment industries.

Butch led the multi-year global process involving the insurance industry and its stakeholders to develop the PSI and launch them at the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From 2006 to 2010, he led both the insurance and investment programmes of UNEP FI. This role included joint activities with the UN’s Principles for Responsible Investment Initiative launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2006.

Butch has authored and contributed to pioneering studies and initiatives on insurance and institutional investment. These include an agenda-setting report on global sustainability issues for insurers and good practices, the first global sustainability survey of the insurance industry, a global insurance industry statement on adapting to climate change in developing countries, and a legal roadmap for fiduciaries to put responsible investment into practice. He has participated in UN, insurance and investment forums on global issues such as climate and ecosystem risks, disaster risk reduction, inclusive finance and corporate governance. He is a member of the World Meteorological Organization’s Expert Advisory Group on Climate Services for Disaster Risk Financing.

Prior to the UN, Butch was based in Asia as the Head of Reinsurance at the Pioneer Group, where he spent over a decade working with leading insurers, reinsurers and brokers worldwide across all lines of business.

Butch is based at UNEP FI’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Barbara J. Krumsiek is Chair, President and CEO of Calvert Investments, Inc. Calvert manages over $12 billion in assets for individual investors, retirement plans, pension funds, endowments & foundations, and high net worth investors. Ms. Krumsiek’s career in the investment business spans over three decades. Prior to becoming Calvert’s President & CEO in 1997, she served as Managing Director at Alliance Capital Management L.P. in New York City, and was responsible for $17 billion in the mutual fund and variable insurance product lines. 

During her tenure, Barbara has advanced Calvert’s position as a globally recognized leader in the field of sustainable and responsible investing.  She currently serves as Co-Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme - Finance Initiative, a partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and 200 financial institutions around the globe mandated to develop and promote the links between sustainability and financial performance. 

As head of Calvert, she has successfully advocated on issues relating to the advancement of women in business. Under her leadership, the Calvert Women’s Principles were created in 2004, marking the first global code of corporate conduct focusing exclusively on empowering, advancing, and investing in women worldwide. The Principles have since become the basis for the Gender Equality Principles, an initiative of the City of San Francisco Department on the Status of Women, and the Women's Empowerment Principles which is a collaborative effort between UNIFEM and the UN Global Compact. For this work, in 2010, she received the CEDAW Women’s Human Rights Award.

Ms. Krumsiek currently serves on several private and non-profit boards.  She is a Board member of Pepco Holdings, Inc., Chair of the Board of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, a Trustee of the Federal City Council, and on the Board of the Girl Scouts USA. She is a former Chair of the Greater Washington Board of Trade.

She has been cited often for her leadership and influence in business. She was named one of the “Influential Marylanders in 2010” by the Daily Record, inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame in 2009, and listed among the “100 Most Powerful Women in Washington” by Washingtonian Magazine in 2011 and 2009. Within the investment industry, she was named among the “25 Most Influential People In and Around the Independent Advice Business,” by Investment Advisor Magazine in 2009 and among the “Top 50 Influential Women in Wealth Management,” by Wealth Management Magazine in 2010.

Graduating Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Douglass College, Rutgers University, Ms. Krumsiek received a Bachelor's degree in mathematics.  She received a Master's degree in mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. In May 2002, Georgetown University awarded Ms. Krumsiek the Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, citing her work in advancing the critical dialogue regarding the role of business in society. In May 2012, American University awarded her the Degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa.

Ms. Krumsiek, a native New Yorker, resides Washington, DC with her husband, Bart Leonard.

Brian Duperreault, age 64, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies,
Inc, the premier global professional services firm providing advice and solutions in the areas of risk,
insurance, strategy and human capital.
Mr. Duperreault is a 35+ year insurance industry veteran who has served at the top of his profession in
numerous leadership roles, including 10 years as chief executive officer of ACE Limited and a member of
the company’s Board of Directors from 1994 until 2007. He served as executive Chairman of ACE until
June 2006, when he retired as an employee and became non-executive Chairman. He served as
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE from November 1999 through May 2004 and as Chairman,
President and Chief Executive Officer from October 1994 through November 1999.
Prior to joining ACE, Mr. Duperreault had been employed with American International Group (AIG) since 1973, and served in various senior executive positions with AIG and its affiliates from 1978 until September 1994, including as Executive Vice President, Foreign General Insurance and, concurrently, as
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American International Underwriters Inc., (AIU) from April 1994 to September 1994. Mr. Duperreault was President of AIU from 1991 to April 1994, and Chief Executive Officer of AIG affiliates in Japan and Korea from 1989 until 1991.

Mr. Duperreault serves as Chairman of the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI), and is a member of the board of directors of Tyco International Ltd., IESE Business School, the International Insurance Society, Centre on Philanthropy and the Insurance Information Institute. He also serves as
Chairman of both the Board of Overseers of the School of Risk Management of St. John's University, and the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. In 2011, Mr. Duperreault was inducted into the International Insurance Hall of Fame.
Mr. Duperreault holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Saint Joseph’s University.

Joan Lamm-Tennant is the Global Chief Economist and Risk Strategist of Guy Carpenter Company, LLC, the reinsurance and risk management operating company of Marsh & McLennan Companies.  In addition to her current responsibilities at Guy Carpenter, Joan serves on the MMC’s ERM Advisory Committee; and leads a joint industry Microinsurance Initiative.  Joan is the recipient of the 2013 APIW Insurance Woman of the Year and the 2012 International Insurance Society Kenneth Black Award for service and commitment to the advancement of the global industry.

Prior to joining Guy Carpenter in 2007, Joan was the founding President of General Reinsurance Capital Consultants (GRCC).  When initially joining General Reinsurance in 1997, Joan was an advisor to the Chief Investment Officer and Board on setting risk guidelines.  She also supported GenRe New England Asset Management, a subsidiary of General Reinsurance, in the design and delivery of risk and capital advisory services to insurers worldwide.

Prior to her executive positions in industry, Joan had a successful academic career.  She advanced from an Assistant Professor for Finance and Investments to the Thomas Labrecque Professor at Villanova University.  As a tenured scholar, Joan was a prolific author in academic and business journals and recipient of numerous awards for innovations in risk and capital management.  Today, Joan remains on the faculty of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania as an Adjunct Professor and held the Laurence and Susan Hirsch Chair in International Business.  Joan also holds a Adjunct Professorship at the University of Wisconsin.

Joan has extensive experience on public and professional boards.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of two public companies, Selective Insurance and Ivans, Inc., and serves on the Board of the International Insurance Society.  Prior Board experience includes Turner Investment Advisors and Focus Trust Fund, American Risk and Insurance, and Financial Analyst Society.

Joan holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Investments from the University of Texas, Austin. In addition Joan holds an M.B.A. in Finance from St. Mary's University, San Antonio, Texas and a B.B.A. with Honors in Accounting from St. Mary's University, San Antonio, Texas.

Tony’s responsibilities also include the role Director of Product Development for Europe and Asia. Providing a fluent and comprehensive system of Product Development that

ensures that good ideas get to market in a controlled and consistent manner with minimal delay. Responsibilities have included guiding and supporting the New Product Sponsor through the Product development platform. He has led efforts for research and development of new ideas and initiatives that have the potential to convert to products as well as promote a cultural swing toward innovative thinking throughout the Argo Group.

As Senior Executive Officer of Argo Re DIFC Ltd. in Dubai, UAE Tony is responsible for setting the strategic direction of this subsidiary in alignment with the Argo group strategy.  He has led the business planning efforts with a view to expanding proposed operations and profitability. Reporting to the group board on operational progress and presenting plans for future endeavors as well as motivating staff. Olajumoke (Ola) Olaosebikan is currently the Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) Doctoral Scholar at the Centre for Strategic Risk at the School of Management, University of Bath – one of the top-five research-led Business Schools in the UK. Her main research interests are focused in the areas of development finance and risk management in sub-Sahara Africa. Mrs. Olaosebikan’s doctoral research project examines the Determinants of Micro-Life Insurers in Nigeria and the Republic of South Africa. She also has a University of Bath Working Paper on a case study of the opportunities for micro-insurance and micro-credit in the Gambia. In 2011, Mrs. Olaosebikan was appointed as an Assistant Examiner in Finance on the external degree programme run by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Mrs. Olaosebikan holds a postgraduate degree in Management Finance (with distinction) from Swansea University, UK (2009). At Swansea University she was also the recipient of the Grant Thornton Prize for the best performance on the postgraduate course – Risk Management and Derivatives. Before commencing her academic studies in the UK, Mrs. Olaosebikan was holder of a prestigious Nigerian Federal Government Science Scholarship and holds a first-class honours degree in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Lagos in Nigeria (2004). Prior to coming to the UK, Mrs. Olaosebikan worked in the Operations Department of Equatorial Trust Bank in Lagos from 2005-2008. UK. Chief Distribution Officer, of Global Commercial Insurance, AIG Property Casualty

Ralph Mucerino is Senior Vice President of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and Chief Distribution Officer of AIG Property Casualty Commercial Insurance. He is

responsible for producer and client management as well as AIG’s Property Casualty multinational network. Most recently, Ralph served as Chief Operating Officer of Chartis International and Chairman of Global Marine and Energy. Ralph is a 34-year veteran of the company and has held a number of senior management positions in the U.S. and international business units of AIG.

In 1979, Mr. Mucerino joined AIG from The Travelers, where he had started his professional career in the property and casualty industry. In 1994, he was given responsibility for re-engineering AIG’s foreign non-life insurance operations worldwide. Following this position, Mr. Mucerino moved to France to manage the general insurance businesses for AIG’s European operations. In 1996, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York and assumed responsibility for the Africa-Middle East region. Following this posting, he was assigned to Japan as President of the Far East Region, AIG’s largest general insurance operations outside of the United States.

In 2002, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York to be President of AIG Global Energy, the market leader in providing risk management and insurance related products and services to

the energy industry. A few years later, he would become President of the newly created AIG Global Marine and Energy division.

In 2007, Mr. Mucerino, together with his duties as President Global Marine and Energy, was given the challenge of establishing two new business practices, Financial Institutions

Practice (Non-U.S.) and Alternative Energy and Eco-Practice (Global). In November of 2008, Mr. Mucerino was appointed Chief Operating Officer for the company’s

international businesses. In 2009, he was elected as Senior Vice President of Chartis Inc.and elevated to Chairman of Global Marine and Energy, Chartis.

Mr. ZHOU Yanli has been Vice Chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) since 2005. His experience as an insurance regulator started from 1998 when the CIRC was established. Other positions he held within the CIRC include Head of the CIRC Non-Life Insurance Regulatory Department, Director General of the CIRC Shanghai Office and Assistant Chairman of the CIRC.

Prior to his service in the CIRC, Mr. ZHOU Yanli worked in the insurance industry for nearly 20 years. He was President of the International Department in the People’s Insurance (Group) Company of China. He spent a number of years in Hong Kong, working for the China Insurance (Group) Company Ltd. HK, and the China Reinsurance (HK) Company Ltd.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in Liaoning College of Finance and Economics (later renamed as the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics).

Bradley L. Kading is President and Executive Director of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR). ABIR is an association of Bermuda’s market leading Class 4 insurers and reinsurers. In 2011 the international insurance groups in ABIR’s membership collectively wrote $65 billion in premium on a capital base of $90 billion. Kading directs ABIR’s public policy activities around the world, including working with members of the United States Congress, the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Executive branches of government in Bermuda and the United States. He has made numerous presentations in various jurisdictions to educate regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders about the regulation applied to Bermuda’s major international insurers and reinsurers and the important role they play in the global economy. He regularly engages in dialogue with insurance regulators and policymakers around the world and is frequently quoted in insurance industry trade magazines. He’s the author of articles published in the Journal of Insurance Regulation and in the Geneva Association Papers on Risk and Insurance.

Kading has spoken frequently at policy-maker and industry forums including: the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the Geneva Association, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters Society (CPCU), the European Insurance Forum in Dublin, the World Insurance Forum, the International Insurance Society and other conferences on insurance securitizations, regulation, hazard mitigation and catastrophe insurance. In the United States, he has served on state hurricane commissions in Alabama and Louisiana and has been the chair of the NCOIL Insurance Education Council and the Coordinator of the NAIC’s Industry Liaison Group. He is currently a Director of the International Insurance Society.

Prior to joining ABIR in December 2005, Kading served for 14 years as Senior Vice President and Director of State Relations for the RAA. His responsibilities included the management of all RAA programs directed at state legislation and regulation affecting reinsurers. He also helped develop the RAA’s work with the IAIS. In addition, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the RAA’s ReSources division which was devoted to creating non-dues revenues for the association.

Prior to joining RAA in October 1991, Kading was Vice President and Director of Government Affairs for the Alliance of American Insurers in Chicago. He was at Alliance for 10 years, advancing through a variety of government affairs positions.
In addition to his 30 years of insurance regulatory experience, Kading previously worked as administrative assistant to the Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives and as a newspaper reporter for the Waterloo Daily Courier in Waterloo, Iowa.

Kading earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Graduate Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a B.A. in Journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Jeff Consolino, age 45, is President and Chief Financial Officer of Validus Holdings, Ltd. and joined Validus in March 2006. Prior to joining Validus, Mr. Consolino served as a managing director in Merrill Lynch’s Financial Institutions Group specializing in insurance company advisory and financing transactions including the initial $1.0 billion private equity funding of Validus Holdings, Ltd. in connection with its formation. 

Jeff received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1988 and a M.B.A. from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management in 1992, where he graduated first in his class.  In addition to his position as an officer of Validus Holdings, Ltd., Jeff serves as a non-executive Director of Talbot Underwriting Ltd. and as an independent Director of National Interstate Corporation, a property and casualty company based in Ohio and of AmWINS Group, Inc., a wholesale insurance broker based in North Carolina.  Jeff resides in Bermuda with his wife Lisa and their four children. 

Neill Currie was a co-founder of RenaissanceRe in 1993, and served as a Senior Vice President until he retired from the company in 1997. He re-joined the company in July 2005 as an Executive Vice President, to oversee the firm-wide marketing and client relations activities, as well as leading the Specialty Underwriting business. In November 2005, Mr. Currie assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. He became President & CEO in 2008. Mr. Currie has served as a director of the Company since November 2005.

Mr. Currie previously served as a director of Platinum Underwriters Holdings, Ltd. Prior to co-founding RenaissanceRe in 1993, he was Chief Executive Officer of G.J. Sullivan Co.-Atlanta, a private domestic reinsurance broker. From 1982 through 1992, Mr. Currie served as Senior Vice President at R/I and G.L. Hodson, predecessors to Willis Group Holdings Ltd. James is the Chairman of Willis Re International, which, together with Willis Re Specialties, Willis Re Inc. (U.S.) and Willis Capital Markets, make up Willis Re. His specific responsibilities include strategy, client development and senior client relationships around the world, specializing in the Japanese market.

James moved into the role of Chairman in 2007, one year after being appointed Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, he represented all Reinsurance and Wholesale activities for Japan Global, which had been formed to coordinate the Willis' Group entire activities with regard to Japanese-owned and controlled business.

In 2001, James was appointed Managing Director, and in 1995, James joined the Management Committee of the Global Reinsurance Business Unit, where he took responsibility for the Far and Middle East region and was promoted to Regional Director. James was appointed Executive Director in 1987, three years after rejoining the Asian and Japanese Reinsurance team in the U.K. In 1983, he was seconded to an associated company in New York to help develop reinsurers in the U.S. market and to support international treaty business. Michael J. Morrissey has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Insurance Society since 2009, and has been a member for more than 18 years. The IIS is an organization of insurance executives, regulators and academics, whose mission is to facilitate the worldwide transfer of insurance research and innovations and to foster the development of

networks across international markets. The IIS, which was

formed in 1964, has over 900 members from more than 90 countries representing key insurance companies, academic regulators and associations around the globe.

Prior to joining the IIS, Mr. Morrissey was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Firemark Investments. Mr. Morrissey was the Chief Investment Officer for the firm and invested in public and private insurance companies around the world. Mr. Morrissey has advised insurance company managements and regulators, and served on a number of insurance company boards. Morrissey currently is a member on the board of directors of Selective Insurance Group, Inc., where he chairs the Finance Committee.

Mr. Morrissey is the global insurance industry representative on the G-20 Private Sector Taskforce of Regulated Professions and Industries. He is also a member of the American Risk & Insurance Association, the

Asia Pacific Risk & Insurance Association, the European Group of Risk & Insurance Economists, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is a past president of the Association of Insurance and Financial Analysts.

Gyu-bok, Kim is Chairman and CEO of the Korea Life Insurance Association. KLIA, since its inception in 1950, has been dedicated to the growth and development of the life insurance industry by protecting the rights and interests of the industry and policyholders. Before joining KLIA, Gyu-bok, Kim served as Vice Chairman of the World Futures Forum from January 2011 to December 2011. Jae-Woo Moon is Chairman & CEO of General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK). GIAK, since its establishment in August 1st, 1946, has been endeavoring to foster sound development of Korea's general insurance industry and protect policyholders' rights and interests. To achieve such goal, GIAK is engaging itself in various activities and initiatives such as policy making, safety campaigns, educational programs to name a few.

Beginning his career in 1978 at the Ministry of Finance, Jae-Woo Moon's professional life has developed closely centering around the financial authority. Right before taking office at GIAK in August 2010, he served as Chief executive auditor of FSS(Financial Supervisory Service) for 3 years from July 2007, and has been a standing commissioner of FSC (Financial Services Commission) for 2 years, beginning December 2005. Jae-Woo Moon, born in 1955 in Gimje, Jeollabuk-do, Korea, earned his B.A. in Business Administration from Won Kwang University, MPA from Seoul National University, MAS from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and PhD in Business Administration from Won Kwang University. He passed the 19th Public Administration Exam in 1976 and earned CPA in both Korea and the United States.

Choi, Soohyun is Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) in charge of supervision of financial institutions and oversight of financial markets in Korea. He has extensive experience in financial supervisory and regulatory policies. Before joining the FSS in March 2011, he was Commissioner for the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit, Financial Services Commission (FSC), Senior Staff Director for the National Policy Committee, Grand National Party in 2009, Director General for the Planning and Coordination Bureau of the FSC in 2008 and Assistant Secretary to the President for Economic Policy and Societal Policy Coordination, Office of the President during 1996 to 1998 and 2003 to 2005. He was also dispatched to the World Bank, Washington D.C. as a Senior Cofinancing Officer during 1998 to 2002. Choi started his career at the Korean Ministry of Finance in 1982, and worked in various areas including economic cooperation, fiscal and financial policy. He completed training course in privatization of public enterprises from Delft University, Netherlands, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Seoul National University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology Education from Seoul National University in Korea.

Stephen Packard is a Director in Deloitte Consulting’s Insurance Strategy & Operations practice, based in Hartford, Connecticut.  He has more than 25 years of experience assisting insurance companies deal with some of their most complex business issues, including:  strategy formulation and execution; corporate restructuring; shareholder value analysis; competitive benchmarking; product development; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; business turn-arounds; and technology strategy and implementation. 

Prior to joining Deloitte, Stephen served in a variety of senior executive positions at Aetna, Travelers, and The Hartford Insurance Group.  He is an attorney and a member of the Connecticut and New York State Bars.  He was formerly a partner in Accenture’s global insurance practice and leader of its U.S. Mergers & Acquisition practice.   

Stephen has written and spoken on numerous insurance topics at various U.S. and international industry forums. He is a longstanding member of the International Insurance Society, and a member of the IIS Research Committee.

Cristiano Barbieri, 37 years old, is the Chief Information Officer at SulAmerica Seguros e Previdência, in Brazil.   Barbieri received his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and an MBA in Business Management from Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. Barbieri joined SulAmerica in 1998, holding several management positions including IT Superintendent of Health and Dental, IT Superintendent of Property & Casualty,  IT Superintendent of Life & Pension, and Systems Coordinator of Investments at SulAmerica Seguros before being named Chief Information Officer in July 2010.

Mr. Joydeep Roy is the Chief Executive Officer and Wholetime Director of L&T General Insurance Company Limited.

He has been the founding employee of the Company and has been instrumental in getting the Company formed and licensed right from the beginning.

Under his leadership, the company recently won the prestigious global recognition as the ‘Celent Model Insurer Award 2012’ in the ‘Enterprise Systems’ category for effectively leveraging innovative technologies to enhance their operation and achieve business goals. He is a Board Member of Financial Planning Corporation of India Limited and a study Board member of MBA in Actuarial Sciences course at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Bruce Sahd is Co-founder and Managing Director of the CaseJohnson Group, a marketing firm offering specialist expertise in the planning and execution of alternative distribution strategies for insurance in developing markets, serving clients in South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon and Sri Lanka.

He was previously with the ReMark International Group from 2003 to 2010 as regional manager for the Africa, Middle East, and India region. He built a reputation for delivering innovative distribution methods and profitable direct marketing products for leading bancassurer clients such as Absa and Nedcor in the highly competitive South African market, successfully established client relationships in the Indian market, and launched first-ever operations in the Nigerian market.

Bruce is a recognised authority on alternative distribution in developing markets, a frequent speaker at conferences in India, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Dubai, Kenya, Zambia and South Africa, with several articles published in leading South African and Kenyan Insurance Journals. Bruce has a background in management accounting, strategy and business development consulting, having worked in the UK, South Africa and the Netherlands. He is a graduate of Leuven University in Belgium and the University of Cape Town. He lives in Cape Town on the Atlantic ocean with his wife and two daughters.

Roger Sellek is based in London and oversees A.M. Best’s ratings, information-services and news businesses throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining A.M. Best, Roger was Commercial Director for Lloyd’s of London for six years, responsible for the market’s strategic business relationships with its investor base, brokers, the rating agencies and the financial-analyst community.  Shortly after joining Lloyd’s in 1996, Roger was appointed Head of Commercial Policy and subsequently became Managing Director of Lloyd’s Market Risk Unit, where he directed the development and application of the market’s risk-based capital system.  He had earlier worked as a consultant to the Equitas Project, assuming management responsibility for the analysis of all non-APH liabilities.

In addition to 15 years of extensive experience and achievement in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, Roger has a long academic background, graduating with a BSc in mathematical physics from the University of Exeter in 1978 and with a PhD three years later.  Roger also holds an MBA in strategic management from Imperial College at the University of London.  Between 1981 and 1992, Roger carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Cambridge and worked in a number of academic positions in the United Kingdom and overseas, including as a lecturer in applied mathematics at the University of Sydney, Australia.  He also spent 18 months as the National Squash Coach for Thailand.

Matthew Mosher is the Senior Vice President of Global Ratings for the A.M. Best Company, an independent insurance information and rating service provider.

Matt oversees over 125 analysts in three offices who are rating and reporting on over 6,000 insurance companies in over sixty-five countries around the world.  In this role as the head of A.M. Best’s rating operations globally, Matt chairs the corporate rating committee for ratings world-wide and is a major contributor to A.M. Best’s rating criteria development.

He has been employed at A.M. Best Company since 1995.  Prior to assuming the responsibility for A.M. Best’s global rating coverage in 2009, Matt was responsible for the property/casualty rating area for eight years and prior to that served in various managerial roles, as well as serving as A.M. Best’s property/casualty actuary. During that time, Matt was responsible for the development and maintenance of most of the property/casualty rating models, including Best’s Capital Adequacy Model (BCAR).  Matt speaks to many industry groups on a wide array of insurance and rating issues and is a vocal advocate of the need to educate students about the opportunities within the insurance industry.

Prior to joining A.M. Best, Matt spent two years in consulting and seven years within the U.S. property/casualty industry.

Matt is a graduate of Lehigh University with a B.S. in Statistics.  He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. 

Ms. Keenan, head of Economic and Industry Research at A.M. Best Company, has been with A.M. Best for 12 years.   Her responsibilities include the creation and distribution of industry research and economic analysis in support of Best’s ratings and for the purposes of publication.  Recent and ongoing studies released by her team, in cooperation with ratings analysts, include microinsurance, US mutual insurance industry, emerging markets and insurance industry development, trends in catastrophe bonds, reinsurance capacity and reinvestment risk.

Ms. Keenan is Chairperson of the Market Analysis and Research Committee which identifies, prioritizes and oversees analytical research and commentary that is published by AM Best Company. 

During her time at A.M. Best, she held the position of head of country risk analysis, during which time she and her team developed A.M. Best’s approach to country risk analysis, which assesses the risk insurers encounter when operating in the over 100 domiciles that impact companies rated by A.M. Best.  Country risk is integrated into all ratings analysis.

Prior to joining AM Best, Ms. Keenan was US Economic Analyst at Toyota Motor North America in New York City and Analyst at International Technology and Trade Associates in Washington, DC. She holds a Masters degree from American University in International Economic Policy and a Bachelor's degree from York College in International Studies.  Ms. Keenan is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Economics from Temple University.

Robert E. Hoyt is the Dudley L. Moore, Jr. Chair of Risk Management and Insurance in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He teaches corporate risk management and enterprise risk management and serves as the Department Head for Insurance, Legal Studies, and Real Estate. He was Interim Dean of the Terry College in 2007 and has been on the UGA faculty since 1988. He is a recipient of the Richard B. Russell Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award from UGA, the Terry College’s Outstanding Service Award and in 2009 the Terry College’s Outstanding Teaching Award.

Dr. Hoyt holds a degree in actuarial science from the University of Nebraska and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in risk and insurance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was an S.S. Huebner Fellow. In 1995 he was a Fulbright Visiting Professor of Risk Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, in 2009 he was a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Munich, and he previously studied at the University of Cologne, Germany. His research interests are focused in the areas of corporate hedging, enterprise risk management, catastrophe risk management, the economics of insurance fraud, liability system costs and insurer insolvency. His research has appeared in various scholarly and trade journals including the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, the Journal of Law and Economics, the North American Actuarial Journal, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance Review, the Journal of Insurance Regulation, the Journal of Insurance Issues, the CPCU Journal and the Journal of Actuarial Practice. Dr. Hoyt has offered expert testimony in litigation relating to pension valuation and insurance contract interpretation and has served as a risk management consultant to various public and private sector organizations including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He is a trustee of the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, a director of the Spencer Educational Foundation and serves on the boards of Athens Regional Medical Center and Athens Area Health Plan Select.

Dr. Hoyt is Past President of the American Risk and Insurance Association, Past President of the Risk Theory Society, Past President of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association, a Vice President of the International Insurance Society, and a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, the Western Risk and Insurance Association, and the American Finance Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Journal of Insurance Regulation and on the editorial board of Risk Management and Insurance Review. He holds the professional designations of CLU and ChFC.

Prof. (FH) Dr. Karl C. Ennsfellner studied business administration at the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna. He served as an assistant professor at the department of risk management and insurance. Professor Ennsfellner was a quality manager in an Austrian insurance company and was a Visiting Professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, at the Northeast Louisiana University, and at the Florida State University, USA. Since 2002 he is Head of the Department of Management at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Austria. Since 2009 he serves as a Vice-Rector at this institution. The result of his research is published in national and international scientific journals. His research focuses on insurance management, risk management, quality management, process management, and controlling.

Professor Kwon studied risk management and insurance at The College of Insurance (now the School of Risk Management of St. John’s University) (MBA) and Georgia State University (Ph.D.). He is also a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and is listed in the Fulbright Senior Specialist Pool. Prior to joining the School of Risk Management in 2002, he gained experience as an educator with Georgia State University and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), as an insurance regulator with Monetary Authority of Singapore and as an industry specialist with the American Institute for CPCU/IIA. In summer, he visits overseas institutions, including in the recent past, and Hitotsubashi University, Waseda University and Meiji University (all three in Tokyo, Japan), National Chengchi University (Taipei, Taiwan) and Singapore College of Insurance. He holds the Edwin A.G. Manton/AIG Endowed Chair Professorship in International Insurance and Risk Management.

He helped to establish Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA) in 1997. He played a key role in the creation of the World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (WRIEC), a once-in-five year academic forum jointly organized by APRIA, ARIA, EGRIE and The Geneva Association. Professor Kwon organized its inaugural 2005 Salt Lake City meeting and the second 2010 Singapore meeting. He has authored several books. The book co-authored with Harold D. Skipper, “Risk Management and Insurance: Perspectives in a Global Economy” (Wiley/Blackwell) won the 2009 Kulp-Wright Book Award and has been used by professors in about 15 countries. He continues to publish papers in academic and professional journals, present research findings at various conferences, and offer services to several academic journals. He delivers consulting services and special lectures for institutions in the public and private sectors in the U.S. and abroad. He specializes in insurance market and country analysis, insurer financial and operation analysis, insurance regulation and other international issues.

Aged 36, Florian Sallmann began his career in 2000 with GE Frankona Re in Munich as Project Leader and Executive Assistant to the CEO

In 2002 he joined Gerling in Vienna, as head of marketing and sales steering for Austria before being appointed head of sales, marketing and sales steering in February 2005 for Gerling in Czech Republic.

In August 2006, Florian Sallmann joined Generali in Austria as area manager for the Central and Eastern Europe region.

In September 2007, he joined Generali in Trieste, Italy as Deputy Area Manager for Germany, where he had responsibility for Generali Germany Holding and all of its subsidiaries, a post which he held until joining the Europ Assistance group's German subsidiary.

After completing part of his education in Germany and subsequently in the United States (the University of Texas at Austin – 1998) and in the UK (Middlesex University Business School in London – 1999 - 2000), Florian Sallmann graduated from the International Partnership of Business Schools (IPBS – 1996 - 2000). Joan T. Schmit holds the American Family Insurance Chair in Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she has been on the faculty since
1988. She has just returned to Madison from a one-year sabbatical at the University of Bath in England and St. Gallen University in Switzerland, after having served for six years as first department chair, then vice dean, and ultimately interim dean of the Wisconsin School of Business. She also serves as an affiliate faculty member in the Nelson Institute for
Environmental Studies, the Peking University China Center for Insurance and Social Security Research, and in the insurance program at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Prior to joining the faculty at Wisconsin, Professor Schmit spent four years on the faculty at the University of South Carolina.

Professor Schmit has published extensively in insurance and legal journals. While her early research focused on the interaction of law and economics in an insurance and risk
management context, she has expanded into new dimensions, including enterprise risk management and reputation risk concerns. Currently her work is centered on aspects of
developing insurance in emerging markets.

In addition to advancing product features relative to market demand, Roger is also a proponent of the expanding systems integration across Oracle Insurance applications.

Prior to Oracle, Roger served in key management roles at Fiserv Insurance Solutions, where he effectively lead the sales engineering team which spanned across Life/Pension, General Insurance and financial products. His insurance career began in Field Marketing for Prudential Financial, where he was immersed in the industry.  Roger holds the CLU and LUTCF professional designations and has been a session facilitator, moderator and speaker on a number of occasions for industry conferences including: SOA, ACORD LOMA, The Future of Insurance (UK) and Oracle Open World.
